A room’s lighting affects its overall mood, aesthetic, and function. As you redecorate a room, think about what you are using the room for, what you want the room to look like, and what you want the room to feel like. In Azusa interior design, there are three types of lighting–general, task, and accent lighting. Within these areas there are countless styles of fixtures and designs.
General
This type provides overall illumination in the room of your Azusa home. Usually it is large and overhead, providing enough light for people to walk around, sit, or play in the room comfortably. It in a sense replaces sunlight, so it should provide about the same amount of light that sun shining through a window would. Recessed or track lights, ceiling or wall mounted lights, and chandeliers are all types of general lighting fixtures. For general lighting in the bedroom and living room, it’s always a good idea to have a dimmer for more control.
Task
This type provides enables you to perform specific tasks, such as reading, cooking, sewing, etc. This type of Azusa lighting is not meant to illuminate a large area, but it should still be bright enough to prevent eye strain. Pendant fixtures and lamps are suitable task lighting fixtures, and recessed and track lighting can work as well.
Accent
And this type is even more area specific than task lighting. It is meant to highlight artwork or other decorations you wish to draw attention to, creating a dramatic effect. Track, recessed, or wall fixtures are appropriate accent lighting.
Any of these types of lighting can be found by a local Azusa lighting contractor or electrician!
